Carers Event

Date and time:
12 June, 2015 - 09:45 - 13:00
Organisation running this event:
Macmillan Cancer Support
Description of event:
Carers Event – An event for those supporting loved ones with cancer. Carers don’t always get the support they need. They may benefit from additional information on providing care; emotional and practical supports available, understanding the health care system or how to get financial help. They often don’t even see themselves as carers despite the help and support they give loved ones. Instead they see themselves simply as a partner, friend or relative of a person with cancer. A carer is ‘a person who gives unpaid support to someone with cancer who couldn’t manage without this help’. In response to this need Macmillan Cancer Support, in partnership with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust (SEHSCT) are providing a half day morning event at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel, Bangor on 12 June 2015 to coincide with Carers Week. The event will provide carers with an overview of the support services available to them. It will also give carers the opportunity to let Macmillan Cancer Support and the South Eastern Trust know what sorts of help they would find useful. Carers and anyone who supports somebody with cancer are invited to attend.
